- EXPOSITION
- In the first few chapters, we meet Brian and learn that his mother and father divorced, and is going to spend his summer with his dad, who lives in canada. his mom chooses plane travel, because the city where his dad lives in has an airport. it was a good flight until......
- The pilot dies mid-flight and the plane crashes. Brian has to survive on his own but doesn't know how to. he has to spend the night with no shelter.
- Inciting incident

- In the days following the crash, Brian learns to do simple but also crucial survival tasks, like hunting and finding berries. right at the end of this sequence, Brian nearly dies in a moose attack.
- After recovering at his shelter for a while, Brian, who now has a good knowledge of sounds, hears an oncoming tornado. the incessant disaster takes away all of his essentials and puts him back in square one.
- Climax
- the day after the tornado, Brian notices that the plane resurfaced and he started thinking of a way to get inside and get the pack. thankfully for him, wood that fell off trees during the tornado was in a pile near him.
- Falling action
- Brian retrieves the pack and finds the emergency transmitter. believing it to be broken, he leaves it in the on position. a fur mapper for Cree fur goods finds him and takes him to his destination, because the waterproof casing helped keep it from being broken in the first place
