Storyboard Text

  • Ashoka was the third ruler of the Mauryan empire. He was the grandson of the founder; Chandragupta he became emperor around 265 BCE
  • Ashoka's kingdom stretched from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Assam, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Iran, Persia. The way he expanded his kingdom was by force
  • YOU MUST BOW DOWN TO ME!!!!
  • At a young age he was said to have a massive temper and a cruel person. He was so cruel that death was a punishment for just a minor crime
  • Kalinga was a state in the fertile land between Gaddafi and Mahina the rivers. Kalinga was the last ones in India that resisted to bow down to Ashoka . So Ashoka invaded into Kalinga.
  • After the battle between the two, Ashoka was very moved from the battle. more than 100,000 people were killed. This moved Ashoka and he realized Buddhism had peace.
  • One day, he saw the monk sit in the street looking so happy. And with the horrific war, he decided to adopt to Buddhism. He also made it the state's religion as well.
