- Hey thanks for coming over. Lets go play in my room!
- Let's see who can jump the highest on your bed.
- Okay its definitely going to be me haha
- As they get ready to jump their feet push into the mattress causing an action.
- yes i am!
- Are you ready?
- After their feet push into the mattress, the mattress pushing up and forward allowing them to jump into the air. That is the reaction.
- Im going higher!
- Wow Im going so high!
- Newtons third law states that for every action(force) there is an equal and opposite reaction.
- Object A exerts a force on object B, then object B also exerts an equal and opposite force on object A
- In this case me and my friend are object A and the mattress is object B. We exerted force into the mattress and then the mattress exerted an equal or opposite force allowing us to jump.
