Thomas Jefferson wrote a document called the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Franklin and John Adam's edited it.

The final draft of the Declaration of Independence was written and publicly read on the steps of the State House on July 4, 1776.

It was signed on August 2, 1776 and rewritten on parchment.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
