- The ghost took Scrooge to another event in the past - Fezziwig's party. Fezziwig was Scrooge's employer at his first job. Scrooge wishes that he 'should like to be able to say a word or two to (his) clerk just now'.
- Scrooge was then taken by the ghost to the day when he and Belle broke up. Belle realised that Scrooge had changed for the worse and decided it would be better if they went their own ways.
- Scrooge was greeted by the Ghost of Christmas Present, who was welcoming and friendly. Scrooge said that he wanted to 'profit' from what the ghost was going to teach him.
- This boy is Ignorance.
- This girl is Want
- Then, Scrooge went to visit the Cratchit family house at Christmas. Scrooge feels bad for tiny Tim and asks the Spirit for him to be spared.
- Scrooge was then taken by the spirit to Fred's party, where they were making jokes about Scrooge.
- The spirit brought two children from the folding of its robe, Want and Ignorance. These represent everyone in society.
