Storyboard Text

  • Montresor the narrator of the story is planning to get revenge against his acquittance, Fortunato, whom he was supposedly insulted by. The insult nor what he plans on doing is provided. Montresor, however, does say he must punish with impunity. His plan of revenge must be unexpected. He knew Fortunato had a liking for wine and used that to lure him in. Montresor takes Fortunato underneath his home. As they are walking down Fortunato begins to cough. Hoping he would say no, Montresor asks if he would like to go back. Fortunato refuses and they continue. Once they arrived Fortunato was overly drunk unaware that Montresor was chaining him to a wall. Once the wine wore off Fortunato started to cry for help. Montresor ignored him and continued to layer the bricks. Once his final layer was finish he threw a torch behind the bricks which killed Fortunato.
  • He met Fortunato at a carnival. As he approaches him he mentions a wine he purchased, that he believed was Amontillado. He also tells Fortunato that he will ask Luchesi if he was to busy. (Montresor is aware that Luchesi is Fortunato's competitor). Fortunato insists
  • To properly execute his plan Montresor sends his servants away and leads Fortunato to the catacombs underneath his mansion. As they are walking to the bottom Montresor gives Fortunato a few drinks. Before they make it to the bottom Fortunato starts to cough.
  • "come... we will go back; your health is precious. You are rich, respected, admired, beloved

  • By the time they reached the bottom fortunato was drunk and unaware of what was going on. Montressor chained forunato to the wall of his family crypt and began to layer bricks to close the opening. I had scarcely laid the first tier of the masonry when I discovered that the intoxication of Fortunato had in a great measure worn off. (Poe 23)
  • Once Fortunato realized what was going on it was to late. He screamed and pleaded for help. Omtressor throw a torch in the part that was left open and noise was no longer coming from Fortunato. “Fortunato!” No answer. I called again: “Fortunato!” No answer still. I thrust a torch through the remaining aperture and let it fall within.'
  • Fortunato is no longer alive
