- Mike is upset because he had just found out that the stock market crashed. He realised all of the thousands of money he had put in the stock market is now gone.
- This Is a Nightmare! How am I ever going to get out of hooverville?
- Outside of Mike's home he found a newspaper. The newspaper talked about if the bank are safe or not. Mike thought to himself that he should check on his savings in his bank.
- The Governmemts deserves to give us our Bonus checks
- Mike went to withdraw his savings from the bank but there was already heavey demands from other customers withdrawing their money. He eventually got into the bank but they had gambled away his savings.

- Mike had then lost his job because they had to close due to people not buying anything anymore. After he lost his job, he then lost his home and things from eviction. He was forced to move into Hooverville for shelter to survive.
- Mike had found some of his old World War 1 army friends at Hooverville. They explanied they are having a rough time too. They told Mike that they deserved to be given the bonus checks the Governmennt promised the veterans after the war.
- Mike and the rest of the veterans marched to the Washngton capital. They had demanded that the Governmemt give then their bonus checks so the checks are able to help the veterens out in the tough situation they in.
