- Hi! I am Alexander Fleming and I discovered penicillin. However, I must say that this was not intended. Let me explain...

- I was growing some bacteria on petri dishes, but I left the dishes open as I was leaving for a vacation
- When I returned I realised that mould was growing on my petri dishes. However, there was no bacteria growing on the mould, which I found very unusual
- The bacteria that I was trying to grow was called Staphylococcus aureus. I ended up growing mould which is a type of organism
- Penicillin
- That is the story of how I revolutionised the world of medicine and how I discovered the first antibiotic.
