Storyboard Text

  • Stamp Act
  • "No Taxation Without Representation!"
  • Colonists Boycotting Stamp Act
  • The Stamp Act made it to where on any legal document or pretty much any paper item had to have a stamp that the colonists had to by. It was the first direct tax to the colonists from the British and they didn't like it. The British attempted to tax the colonists but it was only at sea port and never directly to the colonists.
  • Boston Massacre
  • Patrick Henry and James Otis made a meeting called the Stamp Act Congress among the colonies. They didn't feel it was right to be taxed with out being able to have a say in the taxation. They needed more colonies to stand with them so the British would hear what they had to say.
  • Boston Tea Party
  • The colonists were so upset that they have to pay the extra tax for the paper. So they stopped buying the stamps for the paper which made the paper businesses mad. The colonists new that if enough people would stop buying the stamps the British would start paying more attention and getting made.
  • Intolerable Acts
  • In Boston a colonist started a fight with one of the soldiers. Then more colonists and soldiers started fighting. Once the colonists taunted the soldiers to shoot them and started hitting the soldiers they fired. Hitting at least 5 colonists in the crowd. The soldiers and officers were charged with murder.
  • A few merchants and smugglers had a plan to get back at the British for the tea act. They were mad at the tea act because it made them lose money due to the lowering of the tea prices. They dressed like Native Americans and went aboard ships and threw the tea into the water.
  • After The Boston Tea Party the British were angry and people were questioning how good the British were keeping up with the colonies. So they past a series of cruel measures known as the Intolerable Acts to show the still held power over the colonies.
