- Trevor’s parents met under apartheid, in an underground club.
- Trevor deficated on the floor of his house, just as his blind aunt walked in, immediately she knew something was wrong.
- Trevor told his principal, instead of being in the”smart” white class, he wanted to be in the lower level black class, where he felt more at home.
- Trevor’s deaf dog snuck out to a neighbors house every night. When Trevor followed the dog, he found her “second family”, where his mom bought the dog back from the disgruntled mother.
- Trevor’s prom date didn’t speak any English, and of course, didn’t want to go inside to prom with such an inconsiderate date.
- Abel, drunk, shot Trevor’s mom twice, in the leg and the head. She miraculously survived.
