  • the first crusade (1095-1102) was a military campaign for the recapture of the holy land and Jerusalem concieved by pope urban II
  • 
  • the second crusade resulted in response to the fall of the country Edessa. the entire population was killed or forced into slavery
  • the third crusade was launched lead by emperor Barbarossa of Germany , king Philip august of France and king Richard the lion heart of England in attempt to reconquer the holy land (1187-1192)
  • the fourth crusade was a Christian armed expedition ordered by pope innocent III. the expedition was in order to recapture the city of Jerusalem, Muslim controlled at the time. (1202-1204).
  • the fifth crusade was called the children's crusade and was started by two children Stephen of cloyes and Nicolas . the crusade involved tens of thousands of children marching into the holy land, this event ended in a disaster and none of the children made it to the holy land and either died or became slaves (1212)
  • the sixth crusade known as the crusade of Fredrick II was an expedition to recapture Jerusalem and involved little actual fighting. (1228-1229)
