- Regularly, I tell my Mom what I would study and review for the day so she can be apprised on my acads. It's my way of letting her know I can be independent. After she acknowledges, I would then go to my room and prepare my to-do list.
- Mom, I have already checked Ranger and I know what are my deadlines for today.
- That's great Javi! Go finish your homework. I'm proud of you.
- Hey Javi, we're playing right now, you wanna join?
- But there are times I would get bored from studying and get easily distracted. I would check on my friends via chat and when I see them playing, I get tempted to play with them completely forgetting my priorities.
- I would then play games with them for a long time until I completely have forgotten that I needed to finish some stuff from school. One time, when my mom checked on me, I would even lie and pretend that I was reading some hand-outs on my tablet.
- Oh wow! This is so fun! I can't let go of this game because I'm already winning! Maybe I should just do my homework tomorrow.
- One time, my mom caught me playing with my friends while I was studying at the same time for a Math exam. She lectured me on how I didn't know my priorities anymore. I then realized how wrong I was and that I should not betray the trust and confidence of my parents in me.
- I am very sorry Mom. I am so sorry that I have made you sad and angry. It will never happen again.
- I trusted you Javi. This is such a big disappointment. Did you know that lying and hiding from your parents are bad. You're big enough to know what is right from wrong.
- From then on, I learned my lesson and I always try my best not to disappoint and get my mom displeased again. I know how hard she and my Dad work to provide a good future for me and my 3 siblings. I also know that I should apologize to my parents every time I have done something wrong. I also make it a point to be a good example to my younger sibling.
- Hi Mom! I'm done with my schoolwork. Can I play ML with my friends now?
- Happy to know you've finished your homework. Go and rest and enjoy the rest of the afternoon with your friends.
- Every night, I make it a habit to pray to God, not only to praise Him, thank Him for all our blessings but also to ask for forgiveness for every misdeed that I have committed to my parents, my sibs and to others.

- Lord God, hear my prayer and forgive all my failings. Shower me with Your grace so I may not repeat my mistakes and make my family and friends sad because of my wrong doings. Give me the courage and strength and help me live a life that best reflects You all the time. I thank You for Your love, faith and compassion. In Your mercy, please forgive me. Amen
