- Thomas Arrives in The Glade
- The Secrets of The Maze
- Thomas Saves Alby & Minho
- Our main character emerges from a wooden box in The Glade, home to 40 other boys. He is confused and disorientated and all he remembers is his name, Thomas. The boys are very evasive about how they got here and what this place is. Thomas is frustrated.
- Thomas Becomes a Runner
- Thomas discovers he is trapped in a 10-12 acre glade, surrounded by 4 huge stone walls. Each wall has an enormous door that opens at dawn and closes at dusk. Behind the doors is an ever-changing maze filled with giant monsters, Grievers, that only come out at night. Some boys "run" the maze by day to find an escape. Thomas wants to join them.
- Thomas Finds a Way Out
- Runners, Minho & Alby are trapped as Alby has been bitten. Thomas darts in to the maze as the doors close to save them. He and Minho tie Alby to a wall and fight the Grievers all night, realising that the changing maze can be used to crush the monsters if they are clever about it.
- Escape & Death
- Their night in the maze changes things. The doors stay open and the sun disappears. Thomas & Minho enter again and follow a Griever to see it fly off a cliff. Suspicious, the boys throw rocks off the cliff until they find an invisible box where the rocks (and Grievers) disappear. At the same time the last new Glader, a girl called Theresa, awakes
- Thomas, Minho, Newt, Chuck , Theresa and many other Gladers go to the cliff to jump through the "hole". They are attacked by dozens of Grievers and only about half of them survive. Those that do find a box and jump to freedom. Thomas promises to protect Chuck and get him home or find him a safe home.
- Thomas & The Gladers find Gally who had "turned bad" and gone his own way. Gally stabs Chuck and he bleeds to death in Thomas' arms. They find a recording explaining that a savage pandemic devastated the planet and they are in an experiment to save mankind. A bus takes them away - where to, is it better than The Glade?
