- CONFLICT
- RISING ACTION
- People gather in the middle of their small village for an annual lottery that takes place at the end of June once a year. Every head of household draws a slip of paper from the box in the middle. Mr. Summers is in charge of the lottery.
- CLIMAX
- Bill Hutchinson draws the slip of paper that won someone in his family the lottery and his wife Tessie starts screaming that it wasn’t fair.
- FALLING ACTION
- This isn't fair!!!!!
- Rising Action: 5 pieces of paper are put into the box and each member of the Hutchinson family begins drawing including Tessie and Bill’s three children.
- RESOLUTION
- LETS DO THIS!!!
- Everyone draws their paper and all of them are blank except for Tessie’s which had a black circle drawn in pencil on it.
- The villagers form a circle around Tessie as she continues screaming that this wasn’t fair and all of them pick up stones.
- Tessie is hit on the head with a rock, Old Man Warner encourages the villagers to continue throwing stones and she is left there in middle still complaining that this wasn’t fair while getting rocks thrown at her.
- THIS ISN"T FAIR!!!!!
