The three witches meet up with Macbeth and Banquo on the heath to explain to him the prophecy of Macbeth becoming the Thane of Cawdor and king of Glamis. They were also there to tell Banquo that his future sons will become kings.
Banquo asks what will happen to him in this story. They say that he will be lesser than Macbeth and greater. He will not be so happy, but much happier and that Banquo shan’t be a king himself but will have children to take the throne.
Banquo and Macbeth then contemplate what the witches have just said to them.
Angus and Ross enter and explain to Banquo and Macbeth that Macbeth is going to be the Thane of Cawdor, which is the most worthy Thane. Banquo says that the witches have told the truth and that’s hat they have said is real.
lady Macbeth reads Macbeth’s letter telling of the witches prophesy. She fears that he is too decent and squeamish to murder Duncan in order to own the crown.
lady Macbeth calls on evil spirits to assist her plans for Duncan’s murder. She greets Macbeth with her cunning thoughts in mind .
