  • President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act into law on May 28, 1830. This gave the Federal Government the power to exchange Native American land in the Cotton Kingdom and move them to the Indian Colonization Zone that is located at Oklahoma .
  • After the Native Americans got kicked out of their lands. They were The Native Americans had to deal with many hardships. For example, the Cherokee Indians had to walk miles in worst conditions. They had diseases and starvation. Which killed off 5000 Indians from the excruciating trip to Indian territory. Because of this their Journey to Oklahoma was called the Trail of tears
  • The purpose of the Indian Colonization Zone is "civilize" the Native American. The American's thought the natives were barbaric and uncle people. They forced the Native Americans to fit the image of the western model. They even killed off people who didn't want to be "taught".
