  • I'm going to win this game for you dad! I'll become a star one day!

  • Willy is explaining to his wife his struggles and his constant flashbacks. She hopes that working in New York will relieve some stress and help his emotions. Willy is feeling depressed and is grieving over the times he wishes he could do over.
  • You can't do this to me. I need this job, I am already barely getting by. I've known you for so long how could you do this!
  • Im sorry, there is no room in New York. Unfortunately there is no more need for you at this company. we are going to have to let you go.

He cannot accept the truth. He is feeling desperate and will do anything to improve his life. This does not help his mental struggles.
  • I can still feel you are not proud of me. I can be successful in my own way. I'm sorry dad, you re dream will not become reality.
  • Hopefully my insurance money can help my family more than I could. I claim to be successful but only my family came to my funeral. This could expose me for who I really was.
  • Instead of getting what WIlly came to ask for he ends up getting fired. He has not been able to hold his own financially lately and cannot afford to lose his job. He begs for it back but there is nothing his boss can do. He is feeling confused on why this has happened and he doesn't know how he will be able to move forward from this.
  • Willy is once again denying the truth. He is disappointed in his sons previous experiences. He cannot face the fact that Biff is not turning out the way he imagines. He is still pushing the fact that he should get a good business job. Biff is getting tired of the constant pressure. Willy is feeling desperate and sorry for himself.
  • I was just fired and I cannot handle anymore bad news. i refuse to believe this.
  • Even after his death Willys pressure is still prevalent in Biff. He just wants to be on his own. Willy thought the insurance money will help his family. It is interesting that Willys presence is still strong even after his death.
