Storyboard Text

  • Uniformly accelerated motion(UAM) is aConstant acceleration means velocity changing at a constant rate since the rate of change of velocity is acceleration. It can be observed in horizontal and vertical motion
  • 20m/s
  • Uniformly accelerated Motion
  • 10m/s
  • 0m/s
  • Example is where an apple fall under a tree because objects at free fall exhibits UAM
  • The acceleration due to gravity neglects air resistance which is a constant acceleration for falling bodies regardless their mass and weight. All objects are being accelerated toward the center of the earth at a rate of 9.8m/s which means that if you raise an object above the surface of the earth and drop it the object will start from rest and its velocity will increase in 9.8m/s for each second it is falling toward the earth's surface until it hits the ground
  • 29.4m/s
  • 9.8m/s
  • 0m/s
  • 0m/s
  • UAM Equation:v =u+atx = ut+12at2v2 = u2+2aswhere,v = final velocity of the particleu = initial velocity of the particles = displacement of the particlea = acceleration of the particlet = time interval in which the particle is in consideration
  • When we are talking about motion in a straight line with constant acceleration, there are three equations of motion, which are helpful in determining one of the unknown parameters:
  • Example when a plane starts from rest and accelerates along the ground before the takeoff. It moves 500 m in 10 sec. Find(a) Acceleration(b)Velocity at the end of 10 sec(c) Distance moves during the 10th sec
  • Solution: Given u =0, s= 500 m, t=10 sec(a) From second equations=ut+12at2s=ut+12at2500=0+12a×100500=0+12a×100a=10m/s2a=10m/s2(b) From First Equationv=u+atv=u+atv=0+10×10=100m/sv=0+10×10=100m/s(c) Distance moves during the 10th sec = Distance moved in 10 sec – Distance moved in 9 secDistance moved in 10 sec=600 m(given)Now Distance Moved in 9 sec will be calculated using second equation of Motions=ut+12at2s=ut+12at2=0+12×10×81=405m=0+12×10×81=405mHence Distance Moved in 10th sec= 600 – 405 = 195 m
