The River Processes (Erosion, Transportation, Deposition) By Hannah
Hydraulic Action In a fast-flowing river, water is forced into cracks in the bank and breaks the bank up
Abrasion rocks and stones and sand in the water act like sandpaper and scrape the river bed and banks
Solution the water dissolves soluble minerals from the bed and banks
Attrition The rocks and stones bang together and become smaller and rounded
Traction load larger stones and rocks roll along the river bed
Saltation Small pebbles and stones are bounced along the river bed
Solution and suspension dissolved minerals and light particles carried along the river bed
Deposition Finally, the deposited materials called sediment lost all energy and reach the flatter land in the sea
