  • The River Processes (Erosion, Transportation, Deposition) By Hannah 
  • Hydraulic Action In a fast-flowing river, water is forced into cracks in the bank and breaks the bank up
  • Abrasion rocks and stones and sand in the water act like sandpaper and scrape the river bed and banks
  • Solution the water dissolves soluble minerals from the bed and banks
  • Attrition The rocks and stones bang together and become smaller and rounded
  • Traction load larger stones and rocks roll along the river bed 
  • Saltation Small pebbles and stones are bounced along the river bed
  • Solution and suspension dissolved minerals and light particles carried along the river bed 
  • Deposition Finally, the deposited materials called sediment lost all energy and reach the flatter land in the sea
