- SOL 1
- (Arrival to Mars)
- After days of hard work, the Hermes spacecraft and Ares 3 crew had finally landed on Mars!
- Commander Lewis, Martinez, Johansen, Beck, Vogel, and Watney stepped out of the spacecraft, but Mars wasn't in the best state. A storm was stirring up!
- SOL 6
- It was the day of the storm and the crew had to get back to the ship. But Mark Watney unfortunately gets impaled by a long antenna.
- There's no use, he is probably dead and we gotta go.
- MARK! WAKE UP!
- As the Hermes spacecraft left, Mark Watney became the first person to be stranded in space.
- SOL 7
- I'M SCREWED!
- I better make it back to the HAB to fix my suit and stitch up my chest! It's either I die helpless or die trying!
- After patching up his suit and thinking about how he was going to die on Mars, he may have figured out how to survive.
- Meanwhile in the HAB...
- I have an idea!
- Since I am a botanist, I can use NASA's potatoes to grow new plants!
- Then I can use the water reclaimer for water, oxygenator for some fresh air, and my crew's waste mixed with martian soil for some great dirt!
- I may have to strictly ration, but at least I'm one less step away from dying!
- SOL 29
- When planning his martian farm, he labored past each day and eventually finished all his measurements. The next step was to plant the potatoes, so he hoed his nasty dirt concoction and laid out sliced potatoes evenly on the dirt.
- SOL 42
- Mark's plants soon started sprouting and everything was going great! He even started to think of a new plan where he would journey to the old rover Pathfinder and dig it up to communicate with NASA. It may sound like a crazy idea, but he knew he could accomplish it.
- Meanwhile at NASA...
- What! How could you ever think that, Mindy?
- You may not believe me Venkat, but Watney might still be alive.
- Well, I just told the whole world he was dead!
- This pop-up tent wasn't next to the HAB on Sol 6, the day that the Ares 3 crew left Mars.
- Fine, I will tell everybody that Mark is still living except the Ares 3 crew. They need to focus on their mission at the moment.
- There's no getting out of this one, Venkat.
