Storyboard Description

A baby girl with skin as dark as shadows washed up on the shores of Arlaken, and was taken to the king. The royal color of Arlaken is blue, because only those of royal blood have blue eyes. The eyes of this infant were turquoise. The king and queen adopted her, and she grew up next to their own daughter, who had hair and skin of ivory. As the girl grew up, she realized that she was very different from her sister. Suitors lined up for Lovisa, and Alira was given strange looks. Our story starts one summer, when Alira and Lovisa are sixteen.

Storyboard Text

  • Good sir, you are most noble, but you are not the one I seek.
  • O, Beautiful and Fair Princess Lovisa, who has hair of snow and skin of ivory, will you accept my hand?
  • Once upon a time, there was a kingdom called Arallion.
  • I can't keep smiling and pretending there's nothing wrong forever. I am done playing a silent role in my sister's story. I'm leaving.
  • Hair of snow, skin of ivory...That's the fifth duke that's come this week! And the ball was just the same as ever. Why do all of the men ignore me?
  • The king and queen had two daughters: One was the fair Lovisa, and the other was the mysterious Alira, whom the king and queen had adopted as a baby.
  • I'll take some food, and go out the servant's enterance. If anyone sees me, they will think I'm a servant. I hope...
  • Princess Lovisa had many suitors, but Princess Alira had none.
  • Princess Alira? What are you doing down here?
  • Kind though she was, Alira was hurt. She did not feel as though she belonged in her own home.
  • She made up her mind to leave Arallion Castle and find her own life elsewhere, away from her family.
  • She wasn't prepared to meet someone else who looked like her.
