  • CLIMATE CHANGE
  • Climate change is a long-term shift in global or regional climate patterns. Often climate change refers specifically to the rise in global temperatures.
  • one example that is causing climate change is air pollution. Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas, and burning them causes what is known as the “greenhouse effect” in Earth’s atmosphere.
  • Polar bears have become a symbol of global warming, because the Arctic landscape is one of the first to absorb the impact of rising temperatures. Warming temperatures melt polar ice and force animals like the polar bear to move farther south in search of food and other resources.
  • sea level has risen as well as the temperature. two major causes of global sea level rise are thermal expansion caused by the warming of the oceans and the loss of land-based ice (such as glaciers) due to increased melting.
  • Burning fossil fuels in cars releases carbon dioxide, which is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. As these gases build up, they trap heat in the atmosphere, causing climate change.
