- Guy Fawkes was born on 13th April 1570. He was a protestant. His Father died and his mother married a Catholic, Fawkes converted to the Catholic religion. He joined the Spanish Army when he was 21 and fought in the Eighty Years War.
- In 1605 he joined a group of English Catholics. They were lead by Robert Catesby and plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament to Kill King James I on 5th November.
- Guy Fawkes was an explosives expert and helped the group hide barrels of gun powder under the Houses of Parliament. It was his job to light it.
- On 4th November Fawkes was captured, a letter had been sent to a cousin of one of the group members. It was given to the king.
- Guy Fawkes was interrogated and tortured before he confessed and exposed the whole plot and gave the names of every member involved.
- On 31st January 1606 Fawkes was hung, drawn and quartered.
- We still remember the Gun Powder Plot today and celebrate the unsuccessful plot of Guy Fawkes and his fellow Catholic members.Remember, remember the 5th of November,Gun poder, treason and plot,I see no reason, why gun powder and treason should ever be forgot.
