Freud was a Psychoanalytic individual who believed there are certain defense mechanisms one utilizes to protect their ego. Essentially, they put the danger into a less threatening form. One of these is known as regression, or a retreat to behaving/thinking like a child in order to avoid adult issues. In this particular example, my character is using regression in the form of wanting her mother, a common defense mechanism of a child, to avoid the danger of getting a shot.
How Jung Sees Me
What are you wearing to the wedding tomorrow?
Adler was a Neo-Freudian who believed that one of the main factors that influenced a child's development and personality was the order in which they were born into the family. Of that theory came the idea that the youngest is typically very agreeable and outgoing. In this clip, the female in the pink shirt is the youngest born and is agreeing to the change of plans/being very outgoing by inviting another person, thus highlting the traits Adler believed the youngest would possess.
How Rodgers Sees Me
Horney was another theorist who believed major influences on personality came from social interactions and if we obtain enough love from others. In addition, she stated one of the ways in which we fight this was through compliance, or moving towards people (being helpful, comforting, etc.). In this segment, the female in the pink shirt is displaying compliance as she is assisting someone in need in a kind manner after they are evidently distressed from not performing well on an exam.
How Bandura Sees Me

Jung was a psychodynamic theorist who suggested there is such a thing he referred to as collective unconscious, or a common bank of images/symbols/behaviors shared by all cultures, that exists. In this particular image, the idea that only the bride should wear white in her wedding is being displayed. Evidently, this is an example of collective unconscious because it is a universal idea understood and shared by all cultures who attend an American wedding that they should refrain from wearing a white outfit to the ceremony.
Probably a dress,. Absolutely not white though! Haha
Me too!
Rodgers was a humanistic theorist whos ideas illustrated that our personalities are built on self-actualizing tendencies and our need to adapt, learn, and grow. In addition, he also highlighted three different ways in which we are able to facilitate growth, one of them being empathy. In this clip, the woman on the left is showing empathy to her friend by internalizing and relating to her feelings, showcasing that she truly understands her situation and realizes the turmoil she must be experiencing.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel, my own dog passed last year...
I just can't believe my precocious dog Bella passed away. I loved her so much.
Bandura was a social-cognitive theorist who suggested our personalities are made up of our thoughts and social interactions. One of the terms that falls under this broad umbrella is The Dunning-Kruger Effect, which highlights that people with a low ability at a task overestimate their ability. In this cartoon, this effect is being shown as the father believes he knows a great deal about swimming, even though he is truly ignorant to all of the different aspects this particular sport encompasses.
