While exploring the cave, looking for a way out, boy 412 fell over, loosing his ring in the process, once again, plunging the cave into darkness.

After nearly an hour on his hands and knees, searching for the ring in total despair, he hears the sweet song of the ring calling to him.
On further investigation, boy 412 finds an old, wooden ladder and a dark tunnel leading out of the cave towards the surface above, but what puzzled him is that it was not the same way he fell in...
To his surprise, the passage took him back to the potions cupboard in Zelda's cottage, back to where he had started off in the first place.
How did I get back here?
Boy 412 was exhausted and headed straight to his room when he saw Marcia practicing her magic. He tip toed quietly to avoid detection for fear that he would be questioned about where he had been.
He lied down on the sofa, in front of the fireplace, where he fell asleep. He didn't tell anyone about what he had found. He dreamt about the great adventures he would have with this ring. Little did he know, he was about to find out the the truth, that he was Septimus Heap...
