She wasn't even angry."Logan was accusing her of her mama, her grandma and her feelings, and she couldn't do anything about any, of it."(PG:32) This quote is Janie reflecting on her fight with her husband. Janie is saying that hee husband is using their marriage as a weapon but Janie never wanted to get married. Her grandma was the person who wanted them to get married.
- "The morning road air was like a new dress. That made her feel the apron tied around her waist she untied it and flung it on a low bush beside the road and walked on. Picking flowers and making a bouquet."(PG:32) The is quote is symbolizing the apron to Janies husband's control and she is united showing that she will no longer be controlled by him.
