  • Act 1 Scene 1
  • Horatio, we tell you no lie, the king's ghost haunts these hallowed parts.
  • I'll have to see it for myself before I believe it.
  • Act 1 Scene 1
  • Have you come to warn us spirit?
  • I must tell prince Hamlet about this!
  • Act 1 Scene 2
  • We must stay wary as Fortinbras could be out for revenge!
  • why am i cursed to this bitter existence?
  • Act 1 Scene 2
  • Prince Hamlet we've come to persuade you into talking with your father's spirit!
  • How can that be? I must go at once!
  • Watchman Bernardo and Watchman Marcellus try to persuade Horatio into standing guard with them in an attempt to view the apparition of late King Hamlet.
  • Act 1 Scene 3
  • I implore you see through prince Hamlet's vows before it is too late.
  • A man of Hamlet's reputation will not be a good match for you my sister.
  • Prince Hamlet is noble and I believe his intentions are true.
  • King Hamlet's ghost appears which greatly confirms the statements of the two watchmen. Horatio tries to speak with the apparition but it disappears. Horatio then recounts the story of the battle between the kings of Norway and Denmark.
  • Act 1 Scene 4
  • Claudius is destroying Denmark's good name with his constant drinking and never ending parties!
  • The now King, Claudius addresses his court and discusses subjects about Fortinbras, his marriage to Gertrude, and Norway.

  • Speak to me spirit I beg of you!
  • Shortly after being repromanded by Gertrude and Claudius, prince Hamlet learns about his father's ghost hauntings from Horatio.

  • Speak to me father!
  • Avenge my murder son! Let no Harm befall your own mother!
  • Laertes and Polonius advise Ophelia on her love towards Prince Hamlet.
  • Horatio, Marcellus, and prince Hamlet are on watch waiting for the reappearance of King Hamlet's ghost while King Claudius parties with his subjects. Prince Hamlet feels as if the excessive partying is hurting Denmark's reputation.
  • The spirit beckons Hamlet to follow which Horatio and Marcellus disagree with. Hamlet flees after the spirit effectively losing his friends who warn against it.
  • King Hamlet's spirit tells prince Hamlet to avenge his murder. Eventually Marcellus and Horatio catch up to the prince and want to know what the spirit told him. They are sworn into an oath of secrecy and a promise.
  • Act 2 Scene 1
  • I need you to take this to Laertes!
  • As you please my lord.

  • I need you to spy on Laertes. I can only imagine how much like a bafoon Laertes acts while outside these walls.
  • I understand.

  • What is the matter Ophelia?
  • Father! Father! It's prince Hamlet!
  • Act 2 Scene 1
  • Prince Hamlet is clearly mad with lust, I must talk with king Claudius and queen Gertrude at once!
  • Prince Hamlet has gone mad father!
  • Polonius send his servant Reynaldo on a mission to meet with his son Laertes and give him a package with money and letters.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • Find out what is driving prince Hamlet mad!
  • Polonius urges Reynaldo to snoop around while he visits Laertes. Polonius wants to know how Laertes behaves when he is not at home.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • What news do you bring us Polonius?
  • Just as Reynaldo exits, Ophelia comes running in with a worried look.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • What brings you two to Elsinore?
  • Ophelia tells her father of prince hamlet and how he showed up completely out of his own mind. Polonius draws the conclusion that prince Hamlet's actions are a response to his passion for Ophelia.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • Of Course!
  • King Claudius and queen Gertrude have sent for Guildenstern and Rosencrantz in an effort to brighten prince Hamlets's spirit or at least find the cause of his new behavior.
  • We will do our best.
  • Fortinbras has agreed not to initiate any war campaigns on Denmark but asks for safe passage while on route to Poland. Polonius expresses his idea on prince Hamlet's recent behavior. Polonius believes the behavior stems from prince Hamlet's affection towards Ophelia.
  • I bring news from Fortinbras!
  • Guildenstern and Rosencrantz meet up with prince Hamlet and inform him of the play company that is in town. They also break their silence and admit to how they ended up in Elsinore.
  • Nice to see you too! The play is in town by the way.
  • Prince Hamlet draws up a plan to "catch the conscience of the king!" through a special rendition of the Murder of Gonzago. Prince Hamlet wants to know whether the information the spirit shared was true or not.
