Storyboard Text

  • At the beginning of the story, Mr Jones, the careless owner of the farm, stumbles drunkenly to bed forgetting to close the farm properly. Mr Jones represents Tsar Nicholas II who the Russian Revolution ousted.
  • Once Mr Jones is asleep, Old Major the prize-winning boar and leader of the animals, gives a speech. He tells the animals how they must rebel against the lazy humans and rule the farm themselves.
  • There, comrades, is the answer to all our problems. It is summed up in a single word – Man. Man is the only real enemy we have.
  • In Chapter 3, Old Major dies in his sleep and the animals continue to plan for the rebellion. It ends up happening much earlier than expected when Mr Jones returns home drunk and forgets to feed the animals. This led to them attacking him out of hunger.
  • Later on in the chapter, the cleverest of the animals, such as Napolean, Snowball and Squeler, reduce the principles of Animalism to the 7 commandments. Tension is building up between the tree as they fight for power now that Old Major is gone.
  • 1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.3.No animal shall wear clothes.4.No animal shall sleep in a bed.5.No animal shall drink alcohol.6.No animal shall kill any other animal.All animals are equal.
  • In Chapter 4, Mr Jones and some others attempt to recapture Animal farm in the Battle of the Cowshed. Snowball outsmart the humans leading the animals to victory.
  • In Chapter 5, Napolean and Snowball continue to argue as they each try to get the animals on their side. When trying to decide whether or not to build the windmill, Snowball gives a better speech and Napolean unleashes the 9 dogs on him. They chase Snoball off the farm.
