Storyboard Text

  • Boston Tea, December 1773
  • Battle of Saratoga, Sept-Oct, 1777
  • We surrender!
  • The Boston Tea Party angered people on both the Patriots side and the Loyalists/British side because of the way in which they went about it and the waste that occurred. However, it also rallied some Patriots and showed the British that the colonies really did want change. The change that they got as a result was the exact opposite of what they hoped; it was more troops, restrictions, and taxes.
  • The win of the Battle of Saratoga for the Patriots and the surrender by the British allowed the cause to go on. Without the win, the Patriots would have crumbled, but because they won on the field, they also won foreign aide. This battle signified that the colonists actually had a shot to win.
