  • Uniform Circular Motion moving in a circle with a speed that does not change
  • An example of uniform circular motion is like the sport hammer throw, where the athlete keeps the ball at a constant pressure when winding the ball up.
  • Remember this trip is for you guys to see how these concepts work in real life! Now does anyone remember what a centripetal force is?
  • Oh, I remember! That was when we did the experiment with the half-full containers! When I moved my fingers in a circular motion, the water was always highest on the side opposite of me.
  • Ha! That is easy. Centripetal force is a force acting toward the center of the circular path constantly pulls the object to maintain the circular path.
  • Teacher, I forgot what the circumference of a circle was.
  • Pretend I gave you a round glass and you had to wrap a measuring tape around the exterior. Just like that!
  • That's alright Tim. The circumference is the distance that the object travels one time around a circle.
  • Since Lily was sleeping on the bus, give us the honors of explaining what centripetal acceleration is.
  • Very good! Remember when we get back you'll all have to do a essay on some examples from the park on today's lesson.
  • Centripetal acceleration is the acceleration experienced by an object undergoing uniform circular motion. Like if your driving around a curve, it is the acceleration towards the center of the curve.
  • Later that day...
  • So honey, how was the field trip? Did you learn anything new?
  • We learned about tangetial velocity! It's the motion of an object along the edge of this circle whose direction at any given point on the circle is always along the tangent to that point.
  • The teacher said it was like linear speed. Just that it's perpendicular to the circle hence the "tangent".So that’s it for today, I hope you like it sir abid john evangelista.
