  • The Romans section of territory before the war started was all throughout the country Italy.
  • Carhage’s piece of territory was a little bit bigger than the Romans. The had the islands of Sardinia and Corsica, the South part of France, and a slim layer of the North of Africa.
  • The first phase of the war was a primary, naval battle. They fought on ships in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. It has known to be said that Carthage is very experienced on water. On the other hand, Rome is much more dominant on land. Still, as a result, Rome defeated Carthage, really only because they outsmarted Carthage. Romans use grappling hooks and gangplanks to invade the opponent’s ship.
  • The second war was the most famous one out of the three battles. Hannibal Barca, a Carthaginian general, led his army to go attack Rome. They roamed through Spain and through the Appalachian mountains riding elephants. Hannibal claims a few victories, but only until Rome changes the game, causing Hannibal and his army to retreat back into their home city, Carthage. Rome finally again won the second war.
  • The third and final war had a result of a head to head battle in the city Carthage. Rome’s side was led by the politician Cato the Elder, who pushed to fight for the third Punic war. Due to Cato’s insistence, Rome basically wiped Carthage off the map. Carthage’s city was destroyed and burned, and everything was inherited into Rome’s possession. Anyone who lived in Carthage was sold into slavery. By all means, Rome had won the final war, and gained full power.
  • The lasting impact of the wars was Rome gaining more land and slaves. After Rome took victory in all three consecutive wars, Rome dominated and gained lands of Sardinia, Corsica, Sicily, and can also easily expanded into North Africa, the Iberian peninsula, and the Asia Minor.
