- The Rise of the Roman Republic, but from my point of view. I'm a Patrician
- Why do you get the most valuable land?
- I am a father of the state
- WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF ROME! NOT YOU!
- This is the Rise of the Roman Republic but told by a Patrician. Everyone thinks that we were the bad guys but trust me, the story is all wrong.
- This is not fair!
- Too bad
- There are two different classes of Roman citizens, the plebeians (I hate those guys) and the patricians. I of course am a patrician as you already know. We are fathers of the state! But plebeians on the other hand are nothing. They don't even get a say in government. We are all ruled by the Etruscans though, we do not like them either. They have been ruling us from 616 to 509 BCE.
- It should be fair!
- We rule Rome!
- Finally, in the year 509 BCE we got rid of those dumb Etruscans. Now we are in charge! Those filthy Plebeians think they are the people of Rome, who are they kidding! We will rule Rome until the end of time!
- Finally... we have equality!
- We patricians have all the power, even though we live in a republic. We are the only ones that can participate in government as well. Our laws are not written down either so we get to change them to benefit us. Small groups of families hold most of the power in Rome though.
- Everything was going just fine until the Conflict of the Orders. And while that was happening we had to fight against other tribes too! And guess what those dumb Plebeians did? They refused to fight in our wars! Can you believe that? So in 494 BCE those filthy plebeians left the city and refused to return unless we met their demands! So we had to compromise, but trust me. That was not my plan AT ALL.
- Those stupid plebeians. In 451 BCE we published our laws on tablets. Also on 367 BCE we also made a law that one of the two consuls had to be a plebeian! And don't forget that in 287 BCE we made it so that plebeians could pass laws! I still think that patricians are superior to those dumb plebians though.
