- This event occurred in September of 1850. The compromise of 1850 was A set of rules that made California a free state, Utah and New Mexico if they want to be a free or slave state, Texas is paid 10 million dollars for loss of land, banned the sale of slaves, and made people in free states help and return escaped slaves.

- This event occurred in March of 1852. Uncle Tom's Cabin was a book made by Harriet Beecher. The book was about slavery being a political and moral issue in the United States. This book caused people in the Northerners to protest against slavery and Southerners to deny the facts in the book, accusing them to be false statements.
- Harper's Ferry
- This event occurred in May of 1854. The Kansas-Nebraska act proposed the idea of the residents on what they should do with slavery. Northerners were furious with this act since slavery could possibly expand past the land that was declared free in the MO compromise.

- This event occurred in 1857. The Dred Scott situation made a slave believe that he was free since he's in a free state, but he's still property. He tried to take it to court, but A black man couldn't sue in court.

- This event occurred in October of 1859. The raid on Harper's Ferry was led by a man named John Brown. Their plan for this was to start a slave uprising, invade the south, and stop slavery. Unfortunately, they failed and Brown was hanged for treason.
- This event occurred in November of 1860. This election was between Lincoln and Davis. Gladly, Lincoln won the election, but that led to the southern states to succeded from the Union
