  • A village in New England during the early 1900s. Set in the past from a third person view. With Mrs. Hutchinson as the protagonist and the Lottery as the antagonist contributing to the theme of traditions.
  • Falling Action
  • The boys gather the stones and the town gathers around. Every head family member picks a piece of paper. The Hutchinson family "wins"
  • Resolution
  • Mrs. Hutchinson receives the paper with the black dot. She is decided the "winner". She goes to the stone area.
  • Villagers gather around the stone area. Everyone grabs rocks. Even the Hutchinson family has to throw rocks.
  • People start throwing rocks. The rocks start hitting Mrs. Hutchinson. Eventually she is stoned to death.
