  • Guys calm down. Let's sit down and talk about this.
  • Break it up guys.
  • Hey, let's give everyone some space.
  • A few weeks later
  • Gary listens and tries to ease tensions between Felicity and Theo as their friendship begins to unwind. This is the beginning of a friendship story.DNA gyrase relieves tension as the double helix shape unwinds. This is the starting point of DNA replication, called the origins. There are multiple origins because DNA is very long.
  • Tempers boil over and Hector steps in to break up the fight between Theo and Felicity. This fight gives both of them the push they needed to make new friends.DNA helicase breaks the hydrogen bond between the complementary base pairs of 3' and 5' strands. The breaking of the hydrogen bonds gives the energy for DNA replication to occur.
  • Sasha keeps them separated by removing one of them from the room.Single-stranded binding proteins bind to the template strands to keep them apart.
  • Later, Felicity's friend Ruben introduces her to Patricia as he feels that would get along. RNA primase lays down a primer that allows DNA polymerase III to follow and add complementary base pairs to the 3' end of the template strands.
  • New Friendships are formed between Felicity and Patricia, and Theo and Patrick. Each new friendship is made of one member of the old friendship and one new person.New complementary base pairs are continued to be added to the parent strand, creating a new antiparallel strand, meaning it runs parallel in the opposite direction. This means each molecule is composed of one parent strand and one new strand, this is known as semi-conservative replication.
  • Felicity adjusts to her new friend quickly, but Theo struggles to move on and needs Ralph to push him to make new friends.5' to 3' leading strand gets built continuously, but the 3' to 5' lagging strand is built in short segments, Okazaki fragments, as mRNA is built 5' to 3' and it requires RNA primase to continue to be built.
