- Will someone stop arguing and help the army?
- Rome grew to be too large for the army to defend efficiently. One by one, lands once ruled by Rome was being invaded and claimed by the Huns and the Goths.
- Inflation
- With Rome so large, everyone wanted to become an emperor and gain more power and control. Threats and bribes filled the government as everyone tried to fight their way to the top and remain as Emperor of Rome. No one truly wanted to help the people anymore.
- Invasion
- DIE ROMANS!
- Most leaders fought amongst each other about ideas instead of helping the army. With no strong political figure to guide Rome to victory, there was absolutely no hope.
- The Sack of Rome
- We have destroyed the city you loved and took all of your valuables. Now you will rot here!
- When there weren't enough funds to pay for the lavish army Rome had, taxes started to rise. In return, inflation started to kick in. Prices of basic needs like bread started to rise above their usual prices to the point where it became very expensive. Not many people could afford this new price.
- I just left the nearby market. I just managed to buy enough bread to last my family for 3 days. If prices are going to be like this, I wouldn't be able to afford enough food.
- When the invaders saw that Rome was becoming weak, they started inching closer and closer to the heart of the empire. They killed and pillaged many cities along the way. Roman soldier were no match for the invaders.
- DIE ROMANS!
- NO!!!
- The Invaders managed to sack the city of Rome leaving many Romans devastated. Rome wasn't invaded for over 800 years! With the heart of the empire gone, the rest fell to pieces.
