- I am less likely to reproduce since my fur color makes me an easier prey!
- My genetic mutation is now an advantage!
- In the forest lived a species of dark brown rabbits.Overall, this species was uniform, but random mutation occured resulting in light brown rabbits.
- Dark Brown rabbits had a competitive advantage over light brown rabbits because they camouflage well. This inpacts their biological fitness because light brown rabbits are less likely to reproduce and pass on their genes.
- Due to evolution thru the means of natural selection, my species has moved forward as a whole, changing part of our genetic makeup and our physical anatomy in response to outside factors.
- a drought hits the forest resulting in a change of environmental factors. This evironmental change makes light brown rabbits biologicaly fit compared to dark brown rabbits.
- In order for the process of natural selection to occur, some condition have to be met such as:-variation in organisms-heredity of traits-reproduction-environmental changes
- Because this was a heriditary trait, it was passed down to the future generations, increasing the frequency of light brown rabbits.
- This demonstrates the role of adaptations in maintaning a species alive when their ecosystem changes.
