Storyboard Text

  • Joey is a Grade 9 student who was recently elected as class president.
  • Bye, Mom! See you later!
  • Take care, Joey! See you when you get back home later!
  • Poor kids!
  • Not all kids are as lucky as we are. Some can't afford to go to school even if they want to.
  • One day, while he was riding his school bus going to school with his classmates, they noticed some kids playing on the streets. They were homeless kids who did not go to school.
  • Upon arriving in school...
  • We'll need more volunteers, then. Why don't we involve the other students as well?
  • That's a great idea! There are more homeless kids near the Church. How about we help them too?
  • We have a lot to be thankful for. I think that the best way to show our gratitude is to share our blessings by helping our less fortunate brothers and sisters. How about setting aside time every Saturday to teach those children how to read and write?
  • We'll need permission from the school to do that. Let's talk to the principal...
  • Joey and his friends then proceeded to discuss their plan to help the homeless kids with the principal. They wanted to involve the other students since they needed all the help that they could get, and they believed that caring for one's neighbor is a responsibility shared by the community.
  • So you see, Mrs. Ramirez, we would like to involve the school in helping our less fortunate brothers and sisters because we are all responsible for ensuring the welfare of each and every member of our community.
  • I completely agree with you. I will seek board approval to use the school for Saturday classes for the homeless kids. What's more, we'll provide their parents with livelihood programs to help them get back on their feet again.
  • I am more than happy to help!
  • The principal got board approval, and the Saturday classes started, along with the livelihood programs for the homeless parents. Joey and his friends were so happy to see so many volunteers from the community helping out.
  • Hello! Thank you for volunteering to teach the kids today!
  • I'm here to to help with the livelihood program...
  • A couple of months after, Joey stumbled upon a couple of the homeless people that they were able to help. The couple was able to put up a small stall, and the husband was sweeping the street...
  • I am so happy to hear that!!!
  • Yes, we are very grateful indeed, and to be able to pay the community back for all the support we received, we volunteer on a regular basis to clean public areas too. This way, we are able to pay it forward and help keep a healthy community too.
  • Hello, Joey! Thanks to you and the other volunteers, we were able to get back on our feet again. Our very small stall is doing good and we are now able to send our children to school.
