  • Yes, Mysha, the two main types of compounds are ionic compounds and covalent compounds.
  • Hello, Teacher anna. Could you please tell me the two main types of compounds?
  • MYSHA VERNISH SOLLEZA10 ST. JOSEPH PRACCHEM
  •  An ionic compound is a compound that is formed by ionic bonding. Ionic bonding occurs through a process called electron transfer, where one atom gives electrons to another.
  • What does the term ionic compound mean, teacher?
  • In a covalent bond, the atoms bond by sharing electrons. Covalent bonds usually occur between nonmetals.
  • How about the covalent compound?
  • Sodium chloride is one example of an ionic compound. Sodium chloride is the chemical name for salt. Its chemical formula is NaCl.
  • Ohhhh, OK then, teacher, what are some examples of ionic compounds?
  • Carbon dioxide is one of the covalent compounds. Carbon dioxide is a colorless, non-flammable gas at normal temperatures and pressures. Its chemical formula is CO2.
  • How about the covalent compound?
  • You are welcome, Mysha. I'm glad you asked me about it and I hope you learned a lot.
  • Thank you, teacher Anna, for telling me what the compounds are and their examples.
