Storyboard Text
- The story begins with young Bruno throwing a temper over his father's sudden decision of moving out of Berlin and into the boonies. He is very upset because Maria, his maid is packing all of his belongings even his secret ones that no one knows about without asking beforehand.
- The family boarded a train and moved to their new house a few days later. Bruno was not a fan of the new residence. It was not just smaller than their Berlin house, but it also felt cold and lonely to him. To make matters worse, soldiers were stationed all across the area and no one to play with.
- Bored out of his mind, Bruno decides to build a tyre swing. However, while playing on it, Bruno tripped and scraped his leg. Luckily, Pavel witnessed the accident. Bruno was brought in by him, who used to be a doctor but now helps serve the family's meals. Bruno appreciated Pavel's assistance, but he puzzled why a doctor would serve as a servant.
- Time passes, and Bruno is deeply interested in exploring the house. he decides to go against his mother's wishes and explores beyond the bench. There he finds the fence ad his new friend on the other side of it. They quickly hit it off as they are the exact same age and Bruno speaks to him daily while bringing him food.
- Bruno continues to speak with his new friend, Schmuck every day for the next year or so. However, one day when Bruno came downstairs for supper he saw his friend that he had only seen on the other side of the fence on the opposite side of the table.
- The two boys quickly reunite and have something from the fridge to eat. Lieutenant Kotler soon finds out and punishes both of the boys accordingly. But when they were forced in that situation, Bruno couldn't help but lie about them being friends which he felt sorely bad about later that night.
