- Sometimes, the computer isn't always correct, and it isn't exactly trustworthy. Luckily for John Glenn, he had someone he trusted to do the math.

- "'Get the girl to check the numbers,'" (Shetterly 178).
- "The girl"? They mean me, Mr. John Glenn probably wants those numbers to be done again my a non electronic computer.
- "The girl? Katherine Johnson? I'll get her on it, right away sir."
- ~A day and a half later~, doing all of the number crunching.
- I am so very confident in my numbers, they are all correct, I am sure of it.
- I know my math is right, it has to be.
- Everyone was working very diligently, hoping that this mission would work. Everyone shared the same emotions, happy when it works, nervous when John Glenn didn't answer, and relief when he came back.
