  • Hello! My name is Grover and this is Daisy. In this lesson, we will be showing you how the art of trading and shelter has evolved throughout the years.
  • During the Paleolithic Age, many people temporarily lived in caves or tent-like structures. We were nomads, which are people who constantly travel because of their supply of food.
  • In this age, many people didn't partake in the art of trading. Many focused on the importance of their animals and plants nearby.
  • Grover and Daisy will explain how trading and shelter have evolved from the Paleolithic Age to the Neolithic Age. They are going to show how hominins began trading and living in permanent shelters.
  • As the Neolithic Age began, we started to learn how to build more permanent houses.
  • At first, hominins were nomads. Nomads are people who are constantly traveling depending on where they can retrieve food. At the time, people didn't know how to build houses either, which is part of the reason they didn't have permanent homes.
  • During the change from the Paleolithic to Neolithic Age, many of our traders mainly searched for important resources our group could use.
  • In this day and age, trading wasn't a very common activity to do. Although, as the years went by, the art of trading began to grow more popular.
  • Throughout the Neolithic Age, we began to form communities. We built houses that grew into towns and villages.
  • As the years went by, trading was now a normal activity. Traders traveled great distances searching for useful supplies such as flint and obsidian.
  • Overtime, people began building more permanent shelters and houses. For this reason, hominins were able to be protected from the harsh winters and wild animals.
  • During the Neolithic Age, the art of trading grew more and more popular. As hominins began settling in villages, towns and permanent houses, trading became a more common activity. The reason for the popularity in trading started when the Neolithic people desired to have more resources for their tools and materials.
  • In the Neolithic Age, hominins learned to improve their shelter and trading. Instead of being nomadic, they built homes and formed new communities with others. The growth of trading helped hominin groups with getting more crucial essentials. In order to acheive this, traders needed to transport on foot to retrieve their necessary resources such as food and materials for creating tools.
