  • Flight to Chicago from Charleston
  • Navigating the Airport
  • Wow this is a bit overwhelming
  • The Uber to My Hotel
  • In September my employer sent me to Chicago for the International Manufacturing Trade Show. My flight to Chicago from Charleston was my first major flight and the plane was full. I sat in a window seat beside a very large man the slightly crowded me against the window. He was a really nice guy from the Charleston area that had traveled the country driving a tractor-trailer. His experiences made great conversation, and before we knew it the flight attendant was announcing we'd be landing soon.
  • My Journey to Taco Bell
  • I got off the plane at Chicago's O'hare Airport and I was very overwhelmed by the number of people in the terminals. I made my way to the luggage pickup and found my bag. Then I made my way to the nearest outside door and booked an Uber to take me to the hotel.
  • Our Trip to the Convention Center
  • I made it to my hotel after the hour-long Uber ride through the busy streets of downtown Chicago. Checked into the hotel, found my room, and started looking on my phone for somewhere to eat.
  • Exploring the Show
  • As I walked back from Taco Bell I passed by the Mexican Independence Day Parades. It was a crazy sight people were everywhere on the street waving flags and shooting off fireworks. One guy even yelled out to me about my food. I just smiled and agreed.
  • Yeah its great food
  • Gotta love Taco Bell Man
  • The next day my friend Ben and I found LYFT bikes and checked them out. We had to ride almost a mile to the convention center. After riding for about a block we realized that the bikes were not the electric-assisted bikes we thought they were. By the time we made it to the convention center, we were both tired and starting to sweat through our casual dress clothes.
  • We walked around the show for eight hours. We made our way through the booths of the industry leaders in CNC Machines, tooling, robotics, and software. We were exhausted, but still met up with another friend of ours and had dinner together. Then we headed back to the hotel to get some rest. The next morning Ben and I both took Uber to the airport. We both caught our flights to WV and VA and made it home safe and sound with lots of stories to tell.
