- Digestion
- This is Kevin. Kevin is really hungry and wants to eat some food. So, he decides to go to a restaurant to eat.
- Absorption
- When Kevin reached a restaurant he decided to order a burger. He took the burger in his hands and started to eat. This process of the intake of food is called Ingestion.
- Assimilation
- Now, when Kevin ate his burger he broke down the food and digested the burger from his mouth to his stomach with the help of saliva. This process of breaking down of food is called Digestion.
- Egestion
- Now, inside of the body there is blood and the food is absorbed by it. This process of digested food being absorbed by the blood is called Absorption.
- We utilise the food which we have eaten to give us energy. This process of utilisation of food is called Assimilation.
- There will be some undigested waste which cannot be used by our body. This process of the removal of undigested food or waste is called Egestion.
