- I now declare India independent from Britain.
- Pakistan is for the Muslims!
- India is for the Hindus!
- India gains independence from Britain when they signed a bill that allowed the Indians to be able to have free control of their land. This also gave a new country called Pakistan .This happened on August 15, 1947, the bill went into effect and India got the independence after 89 years of ruling by the British.

- When India gained independence from Britain in 1947 there was a partition which is called the Partition of India. After India gained independence, there were religious issues between most of the people in India, this caused the 2 opposing religions to split into 2 countries India was for the Hindus and Pakistan was for the Muslims.

- As soon as the rule was over, people were excited but the Hindus and Muslims didn't get along because their religions just don't match with each other. This caused a lot of violence between the 2 religions and caused from anywhere between 200,000 and 2 million deaths. People migrated to the new Pakistan to practice their religion freely and some on them never made it because they got caught up in the violence.

- Gandhi revolutionized the approach of non-violence to solve problems that people have. He was one of if not the top advocate of non violent protest throughout the world and was very well known for it. Sadly, on January 30th, 1948 in New Delhi India Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse.
- Gandhi was killed on his way because of he was so tolerant of everybody and was accepting of everyone. A Hindu who believed his own religion so much he shot Gandhi because he was accepting of another religion even though those 2 religions didn't get along. He helped everyone around realize that you could get your point across by being non-violent and not everything has to be violent and there's always another way to solve your problem.
- The partition of India in 1947 created modern day Pakistan as we know but it also created East Pakistan (formally known as East Bengal) because the Muslims and Hindus didn't get along. As We know East Pakistan is modern day Pakistan. Though Bangladesh was created because the regular Pakistan didn't agree with East Pakistan, so they went to war. Obviously East Pakistan won the war which made them declare independence and form Bangladesh.
