- Mountain men contributed on the trail to westward expansion by leading settlers and making forts. They used their survival skills to live on the land and explore the territory.

- This trail allowed many men women and children to travel westward and settle lands. They dealt with rough diseases and death but pioneers wanted independence.

- The idea in mind for Manifest Dynasty justified Americans' belif that it was gods plan for them, like their destiny to travel west.

- The Americans fought a 20-month war to gain more land in the west. By the end of the war, the U.S gained even more land by pushing its boundaries westward, claiming California, Arizona, and New Mexico.
- Mormons wanted to seek refuge in a new place to settle, Utah. A lot of men children and women built the settlement in Utah that attracted many Americans to go west.
- Many people from around the world traveled to California, where gold was discovered in 1848. A few people became rich from this and many came there and eventually, it became a state.
