  • Good Morning Class! Today we will be learning about Advanced Persistent Threats.
  • YAY!!!!!!!
  • APT is a broad term used to describe an attack  in which an intruder establishes a long-term presence on a network in order to mine highly sensitive data.
  • That's so cool!
  • I'm confused, what is an example of APT?
  • I'm glad you asked. Imagine this, there is a big company that stores all of their company passwords on one file. Then, a cyber criminal places a piece of software on the file that allows the intruder to see all current information on the computer as well as future information.
  • How could I beat an APT threat or prevent one from happening in the first place?
  • There are three main ways to prevent yourself from suffering an APT attack. First, do not share your account details. Second, be able to recognize phishing attempts. Third, maintain safe web browsing while at your place of work. If an APT gets on the system you can't get it off. Although, there are ways to limit its damage though. You can do this by using strong internal security measures within your IT infrastructure.
