Storyboard Text

  • Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy that, through cellular respiration, can later be released to fuel the organism's activities.
  • plants take in carbon dioxide (C02) and water (H20) from the air and soil
  • The plant then releases the oxygen back into the air, and stores energy within the glucose molecules.
  • Inside the plant cell are small organelles called chloroplasts, which store the energy of sunlight.
  • Thousands of Stomata dot on the surface of the plants. Stomata's are circular pores with a hole in the middle for gas to enter or leave the plant. The pore consists of two cells — each known as a guard cell.
  • The xylem, is a plant vascular tissue that conveys water and dissolved minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant and also provides physical support.
  • phloem is a plant vascular tissue that conducts foods made in the leaves during photosynthesis to all other parts of the plant.
