Storyboard Text

  • Women before the 1920's were expected to behave like their husbands' property. It had been the tradition for many years. The new generation despised this idea.
  • The new generation of women had cut their hair and expressed themselves using makeup and fashion, openly denying old tradition. These women were called flappers.
  • The young people from all over (including flappers) would flood into cities, becoming a big reasonurban areas had grown much larger than rural areas for the first time in history.
  • 
  • Despite being women and drinking booze being illegal, flappers would go to speakeasies, illegal underground bars. It had been considered unspeakable for a woman to do.
  • Food and Giggle Water!
  • Because of women being able to become factory workers, new job opportunities began to pop up - most notably political job opportunities
  • Politics greatly empowered women, placing them in a seat of power no woman had ever been in before. Flappers were a huge breaking point in womens' history and created strong women everywhere.
