  • After the incident of Pearl harbor, there were conflicting ideas whether Japanese Americans would still be allowed to stay on the islands. Due to major distrust in the loyalty of Japanese Americans, most of them were placed in Internment Camps where they were being supervised by US soilders.
  • Jewish Americans
  • With the start of World War 2, Many men left to serve the military leaving many women in charge of doing traditionally male jobs which resulted in women facing discrimination. Early in the war, women were allowed to work in the military as nurses, drove trucks, repaired airplanes, and performed clerical work. However, women were still restricted from combat zones.
  • Mexican Americans
  • African Americans were frustrated with a seemingly unchanged attitude in America towards African Americans after their WW1 efforts. The Double V Campaign of WW2 incentivized African Americans to serve in the war and win the war on two fronts. At home against racism and in Europe against Germany and the axis powers. African Americans still faced racism crossed seas and at home.
  • Jewish Americans were afraid and upset about what was happing to other Jewish people in Europe. Jewish Americans made many efforts to help their people in Europe but because of the U.S. economic status, it was unable to help. 
  • Mexican Americans faced discrimmination at home and reported feeling unlike they were a part of America. They were hesitant to join the war with the question of ¨Why fight for America when we have not been treated like Americans?¨ Teenage Mexicans began to riot at home due to their feelings about how they were treated. These riots were known as the Zoot Suit Riots.
